The 4P’s To Be An Academic Achiever

John Wooden once said,

“Things work out best for those who make the best of how things work out.”

Aiming for things that we wanted is useless without action. We can’t just dream and expect a miracle. We have to work things out. A wise man once said to me, “Be a doer of your dream.” I guess most of us, if not all, wanted to be a top achiever or an academic awardee. It is not only because it’s fulfillment for ourselves, but also for our family and friends who are proud of us. However, that is not an easy goal. We have to do something to make that possible.

I started to become an honor student when I was in fourth grade, but I aimed for it since third grade.  How and why I got it till I graduated senior high school? I follow the 4P’s: Participation, Passion, Patience, and Prayer.

Participation. You don’t have to have a high intelligent level to stand out in an academic field, but rather you have to be participative enough in any course of academic discipline, may it be in Physical Education, Music, Arts, Mathematics, Science, History, English, and many more. Every student is entitled to participate in any academic field, and it will surely enhance the mental, physical and social development of a student. Mental in the sense that a student will expose themselves to challenges as they wanted to participate which will excite them later on.   It will be easy for them to adopt more complex problems and trials. Through participation, will enhance your Physical and social development since you will be able to explore the field that needs physical exertion and interpersonal skills, not to mention I tend to participate in both extra-curricular and academic activities in school. I joined dance group competitions, theater, speech choir, quiz ball, and writing competitions. If you excel in the field that you participated in, then that’s a credit to you, but make sure you know how to balance things. What I mean is if you excel more in extra-curricular then don’t let your academic field be left behind, just because you are better at dancing than dividing numbers. You have to learn to balance what is more important and less important in your education.

Passion. If your passion is to educate yourself, then being an achiever is just easy for you.  If you are passionate enough to achieve such a goal to be an academic achiever then there is no reason for you to give up just because you failed many times. Never let distractions distract you. You have to read more and play less. My passion is writing and communicating, so I used this passion to educate myself more. I write and communicate in class, which helps me leave a sort of remark of my name to be a deserving achiever. Know your passion and be passionate enough to achieve your goals. Excel through your passion.

Patience. Be patient because your time will come. Work and wait, that is how life goes on, and so with being an academic achiever. I know there will be times that you will get frustrated, and that is fine. That only means that you wanted to excel. So, don’t lose hope, and just wait a little more.

Prayer. The more you believe in God’s plan- the more you will have them. Trust his process and everything that you want to achieve. Believe it or not, I pray a lot and expect less- especially when I’m going to take an exam. The more you pray, the more you’ll be ready to accept any possibility that might come to you as Edward McKendree Bounds said, “Four things let us ever keep in mind: God hears prayer, God heeds prayer, God answers prayer, and God delivers by prayer.”

Life is never easy and so keeping our desires alive is the reason why we are not giving up. Always remember that our destiny relies on us, so better work it out as Walt Disney quoted,

“All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.”
